Research Paper- Proposals that I have responded to

I've received emails containing the RP proposals from the names listed below. I have also responded to them all. I am now waiting for them to refine their ideas and send the proposal back to me. I am not going to read any drafts that is why i need to see that your RP is well planned and clearly organised.

Saria Limpot

Yap Geok Peng

Thayamal Raman

Kumaran

Premitha

Kwan Wei Kuen

Barisha Menon

IMPORTANT MATTERS CONCERNING THE RP:

Number of words- Not more than 4000 words not including references. 4000 words are not a lot of words that is why i need you have a strong focus on what you want to research on. Don't waste the number of words on trivial things like author's background.

Background of the author- I seriously ask you all to adapt and rephrase all that you have found on the internet. Please do not simply copy paste everything. Give consideration on what should be a part of your RP. When dealing with the background of the author, please only pick information that is really relevant to the issue you are researching on. For example, if you are looking at feminist issues focusing on marriage and the author that you are dealing with is Kate Chopin, only present to me bits of her background that may have influenced her in her writing such characters/themes like the era that she grew up in, her personal experience in marriage, did she come from a broken family and if so you could information on how her parents were, you know that sort of things. I do not need to know where the author went to school (unless that has had influence on her thinking and writing), i do not know which river the author jumped into and drowned or hr favourite drink, unless of course it has relation to how the issue you are tackling may have influenced him/her.

Educational implucations- this part should come just before the conclusion. I'll be looking closely at how you see the texts and research would have benefit upon students in the classroom. Is the language rich and has potential to give students the opportunity to learn language through a literary work? Does it offer self developmental growth (teaching students about life and to understand themselves and the people around them) ? Does it offer cultural exposure? Think about it.

Deadline- Kwan Wei Kuen has pointed out to me that it was announced on the portal that all assignments should be in by the 30th of  April that is two weeks before the finals. I may speak to the person incharged on this, but I tell you what, why don't you just e-mail me your RP anytime before the finals are over? Is that good for you? So that means you don't have to rush for the 30th April deadline. Just send me softcopies of your RPs anytime before your final exam is over. SO no worries about the hardcopies. Email the softcopy straight to my hotmail.

Note: I'm not accepting anymore position papers please, only RPs (and probably some very minor Q and A based on the notes in the modules. It will be up this week)

Thanks.
